I have found that in life, actions not only speak louder than words…but also repeated actions build certain characteristics into the inward man…they build inward skills into man…
These skills are demonstrated by the actions of the outward man…yet it is the inward man who has acquired the skills…it is the inward man who has developed the character traits…the outward man all along is merely the instrument of development…
When we practise anything…it becomes woven into the appropriate areas of the inward man…even so, the Word practiced becomes built into the inward man…as a skill…a skill in walking righteously…talking righteously…behaving righteously…
HEB 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the
word of righteousness:
for he is a babe.
A man may learn how to drive a car, and very soon learn to drive while talking…or even think while driving…drivers call it driving on ‘auto pilot’…at such times the mind does not need to be focused on the driving…is this not proof that it is really the inward man that does the driving?
The hands and reactions are steered by the outward man…but the skill of driving belongs to the inward man…
We may read novels, watch movies, listen to music…they will saturate our minds with the intents and purposes of their content…but even reading and watching and listening are repeated actions…they will build the very intent of those things into the inward man…
This is THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART!
Hence believers are said to be:
COL 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
It is all about whatever we practise repeatedly outwardly…it is built in inwardly…this is always how the spirit or inward man feeds…by whatever the outward man practises…
