EMOTION VERSUS AFFECTION

Do not confuse emotion with affection...for whereas the former is a physical expression of feelings such as the shedding of tears in pain... sorrow...shame... or even joy... Or pent up anger as in verbal abuse or violence...
The latter is a seemingly inordinate fondness for something or someone, that causes one to do anything...sacrifice anything...to obtain...retain...and maintain the object of one's affection...children...spouses...wealth... even God...
So set your affections on things above (Col 3:2), cannot be interpreted as set your emotions on things above...
For where emotion expresses itself outwardly. .. Affection keeps its 'things' inwardly...
The one is a venting...the other..a preserving...a cherishing...
