Gods of the earth Chapters 23 & 24

Chapter 23

Janut had made good on his promises to Ade. Suddenly people he had cursorily invited to his Press Conference/Dinner had begun calling in and asking for his corporate account details. They wanted to invest in him…they told him that he was the future of the nation and they wanted to see him succeed…powerful people kept telling him to ask them for anything he required.

It hadn’t come as a surprise when some even ventured to ask for his personal account details. Wealth beyond his imagining had begun to flow just like Janut had promised.

Two days after the Press Conference, Janut had come to him in the night. Ade had thought he came for his new ‘mortal bride’ as he now referred to Toun his PA; but he had come for Ade himself.

This time he had opened the door of his bedroom as though it hadn’t been locked and entered in. Ade sat up and then stood up to honour the fallen angel.

Janut had signalled to him to lie back and then inserted his fingers into his head. Ade had felt no pain. The whole operation took less than ten seconds.

There, you have all the knowledge you want…knowledge that I once gave to your friend Kola now belongs to you and much more. You gave me a mortal bride but you will give me much more. I will place an army of Familiars at your disposal. You are to use them to wreak havoc at the God’s Glory Church. I want Kola and his wife dead through physical means…poison or an accident perhaps…but for the rest of the church, you may use the Familiars to destroy them. Succeed in this and I will give you real power…fail and I will destroy you. Prepare my bride for me, for I will consummate our marriage tomorrow night.

Janut had then gone out the way he had come…through the locked door. Ade waited a few moments and then went to test the door…it was locked. He remembered the mock wedding he had conducted for Janut and Toun at Janut’s command.

Toun had giggled when Ade had told Janut to ‘kiss the bride’; at the end of the wedding ceremony. She seemed to have enjoyed it all. She was now married!

Every morning at work Ade had removed the spell he always placed over her so she could do her work effectively, without the influence of the spell; but at the close of day he put it right back.

Janut had forbidden him to do so any longer…she now belonged to him. Toun seemed more effective at work than ever before and was able to work at incredible speed with her mind…Ade suspected that Janut had given her certain abilities, but he was afraid of asking her for fear Janut might think he was interfering in his affairs.

Ade brought his mind back to the present. His mind was incredibly sharp and so were his memories…he could remember things that had happened to him as a baby! But the most spectacular thing he noticed about his new abilities was the power of his imagination…he found he didn’t have to internalize his imagination anymore. He could actually project it out right in front of him…like some kind of hologram!

He knew this was a very valuable tool for him, because all occultists depended on the power of their imagination to cast effective spells and perform rituals. He suddenly put his mind to visualizing Oduyela and in a few moments, Oduyela appeared before him. Ade was amazed at the things he could do with his mind…he would have to explore further, but in the meantime he had things to do.

In less than a week, over two billion naira had been paid into his corporate account from powerful people wishing to invest in ‘the future’ as they now called Ade’s project to revolutionize the way man functioned as a being.

Ade needed knowledge for one purpose only…he wanted the whole world to fall at his feet and worship him…he wanted the honour and worship accorded to deity,  so he had to become one... yes he knew the Antichrist would be coming soon…but before he did, many antichrists would come that would foreshadow THE  Antichrist…it was Ade’s destiny to be one of those little antichrists that foreshadowed the true one.

He remembered a few antichrists that had come into the world…Hitler…Nero…neither of them had vision…they were merely destructive elements bent on destroying the human race…but he was different…he wanted to be like Nimrod the first and truly great Antichrist.

He wanted to build a tower to heaven…but not in the physical sense…his tower would be the restructuring of the human body so the spirit within could come and go as it pleased.

It would no longer be unconscious in a dream state, but it would actually visit places consciously and travel beyond the planet to other worlds. Mankind would actually be able to visit the Heavenlies and exchange conversations with the Beings that populated it...learning many things in the process...things that God for some strange reason didn't want Mankind to learn... It would be his The Tower of Babel…a non-physical means of transport beyond this world!

Paul had made mention of a third heaven in his writings…Ade hadn’t read about it, but his mind had ‘told’ him…giving him the seed of an idea. He could create the means by which Man’s spirit would eventually be free of the human body and traverse  the universe.

He remembered the story of Wunmi that had now become legendary…the rumour in the cult was that she had launched her spirit body at the Lord of Darkness thus incapacitating him and compelling him to leave the earth realm…how was she able to consciously use her spirit as a weapon?

If there was a third heaven then there must be a second and a first…now; assuming God and his angels dwelt in the third heaven…who were the beings that populated the second and the first…and how did Paul or whoever he was referring to end up in the third heaven and not in the first or second? Was the third heaven a reference to the heaven in which God dwells?

The story of the angel that appeared to Daniel and fought on his behalf suddenly flashed through his mind like a motion picture thanks to the incredible new found powers of his mind.

He saw the twenty one day battle between the angel and the prince of Persia and saw Michael the archangel descending to assist in the battle. There were many principalities there at the battle that were referred to as the kings of Persia.

Dan 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

He remembered the scripture very well as though he had read it before…but he knew it was his mind 'informing' him again...like a mental encyclopedia.

In which of the heavens had that battle taken place? Ade was pretty sure it must have been the heavens that were closest to the earth…the first heavens…he thought of a storey building and how the first floor was exactly that…the first floor above the ground floor. He supposed that was the way the heavens would be structured, so that the third heavens would be the highest heavens…the one mentioned by Paul.

Yes he found that his mind now worked somehow like Artificial Intelligence…it helped him consider options and suggested possibilities that would have eluded human reasoning and intelligence.

What delighted him the most was that this new working of his mind was not as a result of Familiars working in his mind for he would have sensed them...he was used to their mode of operation by now…his mind had actually been expanded or upgraded somehow by Janut!

He entered his private lab…a small building he had bought in a remote area called Epe where no one would disturb him. He had built high walls that could not be scaled and installed state of the art security gadgets…not that he needed them…his Familiars were more than enough security.

To the physical eye it looked like a lab but to the spiritual eye it was a Temple…one in which he explored and experimented with the new found powers of his mind.

Today was the day when he would know if his daily experiments had paid off…Ade sat in a low chair and relaxed and then projected his spirit to stand right in front of the mirror. He looked at himself in the mirror in his spirit form but saw no reflection in the mirror.

His experiment had failed…he had hoped to be able to solidify his spirit into some kind of tangible state; tangible enough to have reflected in the mirror. He was disappointed yet determined to try harder still…

He turned his mind towards his assignment and waited for it to suggest things to him…he had been ordered by Janut to destroy the congregants of a church…he had been given an army of Familiars…they had been reporting to him all week.

He had tested them out already and caused a few accidents at the church. One member of the technical crew had slipped and fallen down the stairs leading to the car park and had hit his head and died.

The whole church had been thrown into mourning…suddenly an idea came to mind…they would suspect if he destroyed them all at once…they would begin to call upon their God and he might send angelic assistance…no it would be better if he destroyed them one by one and space it out so that no one would suspect a thing.
After all, Janut hadn’t given him a time frame…he had merely ordered that the church’s worshippers be destroyed.

Chapter 24
Adebajo was perplexed…he hadn’t thought that the god of war could be defeated by any but the Lord of Darkness himself! He wondered whom Oduyela must have summoned to go up against him, for the god of war would not have relented until there had been not a single soul let alive.

It had been Adebajo’s intention to wipe out all Christians in that neighbourhood because he had plans for the neighbourhood…he wanted to establish pagan temples in honour of the gods he served, in place of churches…he wanted to bring back the priesthood of the gods and the days when the supernatural would be the order of the day once more.

Christianity had had its day…gone now was the power that the Early Church had experienced…the miracles…the healings…all had been replaced by Mammon the god of money…Lucifer had seen to that.

His ministers had come in with the new gospel…the one Paul had described as ‘another gospel’. The deification of Self had begun when the Prosperity Gospel had entered the Church...Now everyone wanted to be self-fulfilled and follow their selfish passions and become materially and financially successful.

They had once again tasted of the forbidden fruit of the knowledge of Good and Evil...and they had rejected the fruit of the tree of Life...they had thought that they could have both.

Adebajo smiled as he thought of the large scale of deception and how gullible Christians were…especially the African ones…they would believe anything anyone who had authority told them…they never questioned their leaders…they were above board…next to God himself…it was the African mentality and it would be their ultimate downfall.

Adebajo turned his attention to what he had to do next, now that his plan to wipe out Christianity in his chosen district had failed.

It would have to come down to an open challenge…he would have to challenge Oduyela’s claim to the leadership of the cult openly in front of the other Elders, or lose face before them. Oduyela was strong but he was no match for him - Adebajo...no one knew his beginnings…they all seemed to think that the cult of the Ancient Mothers was the most powerful…they didn’t realize that now that the cult had been defeated in battle…they were on the wane…another cult would rise up…it was the way of life…a waning always followed a waxing…just like the rising and the setting of the sun.

Adebajo didn’t want another cult to rise up in their stead, knowing that he had the power to restore them to their former glory…but Oduyela still relied on the power of the Ancient Mothers…he didn’t realize that they were finished, ever since their leader the Queen Mother had been vanquished.
The moment the Lord of Darkness saw younger blood that was more capable, he would give him the right of way…but it was up to Adebajo to prove that he was that person.

Swiftly he made ready for the meeting that night…he had long since dispensed with the sacred meat that transported them in the spirit to their meeting place in the In Between World as he liked to call it.

He knew how to project his spirit out of his body without the need of props and tonight he would give the Elders a taste of his true power.

Adebajo’s father had been born under unusual circumstances. His father had mated with a mad woman by order of the Lord of Darkness; being the powerful head of a cult at that time.

It was in mockery of the marriage of the prophet to a prostitute mentioned in the Bible...yet it was powerful magic.

The woman had given birth to Adebajo’s father and he had been possessed of supernatural powers as a result of the mixed genes of a mad woman possessed by a powerful fallen angel, and the blood of a powerful wizard that had been steeped in charms over several years.

So it was no wonder that Adebajo himself had been born with strange supernatural powers that enabled him to leave his body at will and traverse the heavens…except the third heaven which had been forbidden to him by his foster grandfather…the fallen angel who had once possessed his late grandmother.

When Adebajo had ‘come of age’…that is when he had been formerly initiated into the cult led by his father, his foster grandfather had stopped by in the night and given him a gift….but had also revealed his name…he was Belial! Adebajo was a foster grandson of Belial!

He had studied the bible then about Belial, for there was no other book he knew of that supplied as much information about his foster grandfather other than the bible. There were several verses about Belial in the bible and the children of Belial of which he was one…except that he was a direct son of Belial…all the others were his children by nature…not children by birth like he was.
His favourite verse about Belial was:

2CO 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

It showed his foster grandfather to be the Great Adversary of Christ…it revealed how truly powerful Belial was. Some say that Belial is simply another term for Lucifer…but he knew better, for Belial had once taken him in his spirit form to be introduced to the Lord of Darkness…so how could the same person be in two places at the same time?

But it was time to use his gift…he hadn’t used it in a long time…it was a sword of the spirit fashioned to look exactly like the sword of the Spirit wielded by Christ himself from his mouth in the book of Revelation…Belial had given him as a gift when he had been initiated.

It was a parody of the true sword of the Spirit…but nonetheless it was an extremely destructive weapon…for it was the very same kind of sword that the fallen angels had used in the Great Rebellion…who else on earth wielded a sword of the fallen angels?

Adebajo chuckled as he pondered these things and left for the meeting…tonight Oduyela would die…but not before he had tasted of the power of his sword. Then every other Elder would bow before him as the undisputed head of the cult.

He had really begged Belial to grant him the favour of an appearance at the cult meeting this night and he had reluctantly agreed…

“Anything for my favourite grandson,” Belial had said.

“Not only that,” Adebajo had responded, wondering what else he could add, now that he had Belial’s ear.

“What more do you want child?” Belial asked a little impatiently.

“I want to rebuild the ancient Gateways of Power,” said Adebajo.

Belial had stared at him incredulously before bursting out into loud and boisterous laughter.

“That would hasten our incarceration and not delay it child,” Belial said a little later, when he saw his grandson was not laughing.

“No it won’t, and I will tell you why,” said Adebajo.

“Go ahead and indulge me,” said Belial, a little amused.

“The day of the son of Lucifer shall not come except there be a falling away first,” said Adebajo, pausing to see if his grandfather now understood.

“So? What has that got to do with our coming incarceration?” asked Belial.

“Everything! The falling away is a falling away of the Christians. If that falling away is delayed by a persecution of the Church by pagans, and not by their love waxing cold as is prophesied in Scriptures, then so also will the coming of the Antichrist be delayed and by proxy our incarceration too will be delayed,” finished Adebajo.

Belial blinked his eyes at his grandson in amazement.

“I do believe you are right son! I need to inform Lucifer right away. I do believe you have just earned yourself a right to rule somewhere Adebajo son of Belial!” Belial had soared away in excitement to see Lucifer.
This was what had brought about his contest for the leadership of the cult of the Ancient Mothers, which contest was now a mere formality…his grandfather had assured him that Lucifer was in his favour.

The cult would be renamed and given the responsibility of rebuilding the ancient pagan temples that were the Gateways through which the fallen angels had descended to earth as gods in earlier mythological times.

That was why he still wondered why Ba’al the god of war had been defeated…unless it had been a ploy of the Lord of Darkness…unless he wanted the Gateways to be built elsewhere…he it was that must have allowed Ba’al to be beaten.

He soared into the ethereal world and arrived almost immediately at his destination. Everyone was gathered including Oduyela…he had deliberately delayed his arrival so as to create an impression.

“You are late Adebajo, would you care to explain why?” asked Oduyela. Behind him were an army of Familiars, row after row.

“There is really no need of an explanation seeing as how the leadership of this cult must change hands tonight,” replied Adebajo.

“Oh, is this an open challenge then?” asked Oduyela with a small laugh, looking over his shoulders meaningfully as though to call Adebajo’s attention to his army of Familiars.

“And you hope to defeat me with what; your incantations?” sneered Oduyela.

“Nope, but I will defeat you with my own inherent power. “ Adebajo began to draw out a great sword from within his belly. It pulsed with power and let off sparks of fire wherever it turned.
For the first time that night, Oduyela looked a little uncertain. He had never seen Adebajo wield a sword before…but even at that…he would be overwhelmed by his army before he even got close enough to use it on him.

“Well then, let’s begin,” said Oduyela, rising to his feet and uttering words to his Familiars…except that they didn’t respond. Oduyela looked back and they were all gone!

“It is to be a battle between you and me,” said Adebajo.

Oduyela looked up suddenly and saw a fearsome presence behind Adebajo.

“Allow me to introduce to you my grandfather Belial the fallen archangel,” said aAdebajo as he thrust his sword straight through Oduyela’s spirit form.

The other Elders had been completely rooted to the spot since the beginning…they were still in a state of shock when Adebajo sat on the throne. Oduyela’s spirit had long since departed…despatched to the Abyss he had once seen as he was being taken to see the Ancient Mothers.

Adebajo stared down at the prostrate, quivering spirit forms of the Elders…his time and reign had begun!
