Life isn't meant to be measured in units of time, for it would mean that Life and its activity (living); is centred on the passage of time...of years, months, weeks and days.
Existence should never be confused with Life...for whereas the former has to do with the passing of time; the latter has to do with the birth and growth of the spirit within.
Biological life with its attendant needs, wants, relationships, etc, is perhaps what we generally refer to loosely as life and living , but there is a genuine life form residing within the outer physical Man...it is dead in sin until it is reborn by the Spirit of God. But even in death it is the sole reason why the outer Man is physically alive.
But we only EXIST until this DEAD inward Man is reborn. Its purpose is to develop the character and nature of God so that it becomes the character and nature of the outward Man.
Its goal is to prepare the Man through this inward transformation to be qualified and made fit to enter ETERNITY - the Kingdom of God; for without this transformation no man can enter the Kingdom of God.
Living Life therefore should primarily be with this mindset...not to live for one's SELF (ie one's biological, emotional or other needs PRIMARILY ); but to live for the Kingdom...by living the life OF the Kingdom here and now.
For Man shall not live by bread (food and the labour for it) alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
We are to LIVE this outward life by EVERY word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
This speaks of the ability to hear what God is SAYING PERSONALLY to you. How can you hear if you aren't CLOSE or INTIMATE enough?
For if you spend say three hours a week in church and one hour a week with HIM PERSONALLY...How can you say that you know HIM let alone HEAR HIM?
Therefore your PERSONAL fellowship with HIM should be prioritized over and above all else.
The PERSONAL STUDY of HIS word (not a cursory reading), will begin to open both your eyes and ears to what HE is saying PERSONALLY to you, if done habitually and regularly.
It is the Spirit's way of bringing HIS thoughts back to your remembrance whenever you need guidance.
But if you have no words from HIM stored in your spirit through constant study... How can HE speak to you in your hour of need?
Take this from one whose life was recently spared...
