GODS OF THE EARTH CHAPTER 44 - THE FINALE!!!

Chapter 44

They left the hospital after Kola had been properly attended to, under the watchful eyes of his wife and pastor. Dr Ekwueme would never be the same again. He was still coming to terms with what had happened to him in the emergency room…how the privacy and sanctity of his mind had been invaded by an evil spirit who had taken possession of his limbs.

It had taken Mary and Mrs Adewusi a little over twenty minutes to explain everything in a way the good doctor could understand, after he had treated Kola…but by the time they had spoken to him…he really couldn’t let them leave without leading him to Christ.

“So what next?” asked Kola as Muyiwa drove them home.

“A warm bath, a warm dinner and off to bed for you my darling,” said Wunmi, smiling sweetly at her husband whose head she had cradled in the crook of her arm.

“And what about you?” asked Kola, sitting up in consternation.

“This isn’t over yet Kola. We have to see it through,” said Pastor Adewusi.

“Meaning what sir?” persisted Kola.

“Meaning we have to find out what happened to those giants and inquire of the Spirit if there is anything else he would require us to do,” answered the pastor.

“So you are all going off again without me? That is totally unacceptable!” protested Kola…till his wife sealed his mouth with a kiss…that had happened fairly frequently in the last few months…it simply meant end of discussion…well in matters of the spirit, he knew his wife knew best…but to miss out on all the action…

You’ve had your fair share of action…you should rest now…

“You’ve had your fair share of action…you should rest now,” said Muyiwa.

“How did you know?” asked Kola.

“How did I know what?” countered Muyiwa.

“I mean, how did you know what the Spirit said to me just now?” Kola asked.

“I didn’t. I was merely making my own observations,” replied Muyiwa.

Mary giggled…she knew what was happening…it had happened before between Wunmi and herself…the Spirit would say something and then get someone else to voice it out…it was His way of making sure the person began to recognise his voice without a shadow of doubt…out of the mouth of two or three witnesses a thing shall be established.

Wunmi absentmindedly stroked the top of her husband’s head where the bandage had not covered, as she thought on the things the Spirit had told her while she had been unconscious…

“Does this mean I’m going to die Lord?” asked Wunmi, slowing down a little bit.

“I cannot tell you that, for then you would no longer be walking by faith but by sight,” answered the Man she had called Lord.

She remembered everything…and the time was drawing near…she didn’t know what lay ahead in the near future…but she had checked herself for traces of fear…there was none…she was ready to be offered up even as her Lord and several apostles had been offered up…and not even her cousin and best friend Mary knew what had transpired between her and her Lord.

She cast her mind back over six years and saw how the Lord had moulded her and transformed her life…it always had to be through the path of suffering…or how else would one die to self if one didn’t die to comforts…pleasures…worldly desires and ambitions…and even to one’s very Will…she was satisfied that the Lord had indeed been good to her…not in the way people often said, whenever they felt that the Lord had ‘blessed’ them with some material benefits…but in the sense of having begun to be conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus.

She had walked with him…hand in hand…in the garden while she had been unconscious…that was more than enough for her…so now if she perished in the flesh…then she perished.

Kola had been staring up at her intently, unnoticed by Wunmi till she looked down once…

“What are you thinking about?” whispered Kola.

“I’m thinking about good the Lord has been to me,” replied Wunmi, whispering directly into his ear so that it tickled him.

“You know…sometimes you treat me like I’m a child, is that because compared to you I’m what they call a new born babe in Christ?” asked Kola.

“Nope, you are not just my husband…you are my father…and I am not just your wife, I am your mother,” replied Wunmi, smiling down at him.

As Muyiwa drove home, they saw the deserted streets and the damage done by the giants. Muyiwa marvelled at the scale of destruction that they had wrought….the Rapture was much closer than anyone could ever think, he thought to himself.

In fact he had never thought the Church would still be on earth to see any of these things…but one thing was certain…the time of the Antichrist drew near…the Great Falling Away was now almost complete…the wheat was being separated from the chaff…the Bride of Christ from the Church Denominations.

These were the days in which God was making up His jewels…and he had learnt that it was a fiery process…ministry was not enjoyable as the ministers of today were trying to make it out to be…he didn’t see Paul or Peter or anyone else enjoying themselves as they preached from city to city…all they encountered were hardships and pain.

The scales had fallen off his eyes and he had come to see the Church for what it really is…a System of Religious Organisations called Denominations…Spiritual Empires on earth…whose leaders had set themselves up as gods of the earth…he and Kola were not the only ones that had aspired to be gods on earth…you could see these gods that are not gods everywhere you turned…if you had eyes to see…

Muyiwa smiled mirthlessly…he had only been fortunate to be married to such a woman as Mary, or how would he have survived! Another woman would have left him a long time ago…but not Mary…she was of the Spirit…they never let go…because love never fails…he realized that now.

The Hosts of Heaven had escorted the giants out of the city where they destroyed and disposed of the abominations in a place where man would never find them…they had never been meant to appear…at least not yet…the return of the Nephilim was reserved for the days of the Antichrist…the reliving of the days of Noah when giants walked the earth, freely inhabiting it along with mortals.

They surveyed the mass destruction caused by these infernal beings and felt great compassion for the mortals that had lost their lives…yet there was nothing they could do to ease their suffering…the mortals would have to rebuild their city and cope with their losses as best as they could.

With one accord they returned to the battle ground where the rest of their Company still battled with fallen angels…it was almost over…Belial was gone, and so were Janut and Baal…only the Lord of Darkness himself remained…locked in battle with Michael their warlord.

Swiftly they joined the waning battle and made short work of the fallen angels that remained…then they formed a wide circle around the battle between the two arch angels.

As soon as Kola was safely settled in, Wunmi and Mary drove down to the place where the giants had last been seen. They had firmly insisted that the others remained behind, and the Lord had confirmed it to them…he had work for only Mary and Wunmi…the others had completed their tasks successfully.

Michael holds fort till you arrive…this battle is for mortals, not for angels…for it is YOU that must wrestle against Principalities and Powers and Rulers of the Darkness of this world, and Wicked Spirits in Heavenly Places. But it is to them the fallen angels that I will demonstrate My manifold wisdom through my Church which you now represent.

“Okay sir,” responded both ladies at the same time.

Mary drove a little further till she saw the whirlwinds in the distance. She looked at Wunmi and Wunmi nodded.

As they drove closer, they could see a wide circle of tall majestic Beings beyond the sphere of the earthly skies…they had been granted the gift of Discerning of Spirits…they were beginning to be caught up as Mary parked and they stepped out of the car…it was the last thing they remembered…physically.

Michael had the upper hand for he fought with the fury he was known for, when the sacredness of his Lord had been trespassed. For Lucifer had hurled insults, blaspheming the Name that is above all names…and Michael couldn’t let him go scot free…the zeal of the Lord of Hosts had consumed him, and in holy anger, he had turned himself into a living weapon. Lucifer backed away at the fierceness of his onslaught…never before had Lucifer seen Michael fight with such fury!

The defeated fallen angels watched from afar…cloaked in darkness…they knew they had lost when the Enemy of Darkness appeared in their Realm.

Michael stopped fighting abruptly and withdrew some distance along with his Host of angels.

Lucifer turned around to find out why, and found himself staring at the Enemy of Darkness and her cousin…his mortal foes!

With a snarl of rage he launched himself at them…but a Standard appeared before them, shielding them and preventing him from getting close to them.

“When the Enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a Standard against him,” muttered Mary with new understanding.

Then both of them felt themselves being clothed from above…the clothing was light, yet strong…it was armour…they had been clothed with the armour of God himself!

In their hands appeared the Sword of the Spirit and the Shield of Faith…then the Standard was lifted and they saw their foe.

Lucifer clashed swords with the Enemy of Darkness…for that was Wunmi’s name in the realm of the Spirit…

The Enemy of Darkness found herself possessed with fighting skills which she had never learnt…

OH BUT YOU DID…ALL THOSE TIMES YOU WRESTLED IN PRAYER FOR THE SALVATION OF YOUR HUSBAND, WHAT DID YOU THINK YOU WERE DOING?

Mary watched closely in awe of her cousin…till a fallen angel suddenly threw away his cloak of darkness and approached her unexpectedly…then Mary found herself engaged in a battle…for one more appeared…then several others.

Suddenly Mary cried out the Name of Jesus…from deep within her, a river of Living Water suddenly burst forth from her mouth…it was a river of blazing light…like a torrential flood it swept her adversaries away and out of her presence…they were gone…but there were more throwing off their cloaks of darkness…so now she knew why the Spirit required her presence…it was to give support to the Enemy of Darkness, so she could keep her focus on Lucifer, Lord of Darkness.

She readied herself as they streaked towards her…she had to learn in the Reality of the Spirit realm, how to use the Sword and the Shield…she had long since learned that it was not merely the confession of the Word that wielded the Sword…it was the might of the arm…the strength in the spirit of a man!

She had been strengthened with MIGHT in her inner man by the Spirit of the living God…she was ready!

They came at her all at once in their numbers, but Mary had Omnipotence on her side…for a few moments she enjoyed the ability to see around her all at once…she parried every blow till it became a game…and when she tired of it, she laughed terribly as one by one she dispatched them back to their own place…till she stood alone.

She watched as her cousin battled the Lord of Darkness…he was furious at the easy dispatch of his fallen warrior angels, by a mortal.

Finally he got the upper hand and tripped up the Enemy of Darkness, so that when her sword fell out of her hand in battle, he laughed and bent over her to thrust his sword through…that was when he made the mistake of his life…for the sword never drops…it changes places…
For in the instance that he bent over the Enemy of Darkness, the Sword of the Spirit came out of her mouth as she uttered the words; BEGONE FROM ME, FOE OF MY FATHER!

The curtains of the Heavenlies ripped apart to receive their Lord into Darkness…it was over…Michael raised his sword in salute…

“For the Majesty!” he roared.

“For the Majesty,” Wunmi and Mary roared back.

Michael nodded his head to acknowledge them, and the majestic Host of Heaven faded out of their sight…it was over.

Wunmi awoke from the vision and looked at Mary who was still slumped over the steering wheel. It was dark…Wunmi checked her phone for the time…past 2am in the morning! They had been gone for hours!

As Mary stirred, Wunmi lifted her hands in silent worship to the King of all Kings…the Lord of Lords…the one who is the Alpha and the Omega…He who was…who is…and ever shall be…the Beginning and the Ending of all things!!!

THE END!!!

Thank you for reading this! May the Lord bless and use you greatly to become the Foe of his Foes…and the Enemy of Darkness!

Gods of the earth Chapter 43

Chapter 43
Lucifer stood toe to toe with Michael, and waited for his fallen angels to surround him….

“At last we meet again Michael, and you’re all alone this time. No petty mortals to come to your rescue,” he sneered, drawing his sword slowly.

Michael waved off his elite who had come to his aid…it was as the Spirit had told him…he had to fight this battle alone…his angels were baffled as to why he refused their help.

“Well met Lucifer, and yet I am never alone,” said Michael grimly. The fallen angels that surrounded him gave him a wide berth…not many of them had ever escaped the wrath of his sword, bequeathed to him by Majesty himself.

It was rumoured that the Sword was the Sister Sword to the Sword of the Spirit that was given to every true believer…but no one knew for sure…except that when Michael wielded it in the power of the Spirit…he became unstoppable!

They began circling him like vultures…waiting for the opportunity to strike…Michael kept his eye on Lucifer, who in turn kept an eye on his fallen angels…they were waiting for some prearranged signal from their Lord.

It came suddenly as Michael feigned to his left…they instinctively attacked him from his right flank…but Michael had anticipated their move…he had been given foreknowledge by the Spirit.

They collided with themselves and inadvertently pierced each other viciously…they fell away with horrible screams, for they had damaged each other with their own weapons…therefore being gravely wounded and disabled they had no choice than to leave earth’s realm.

Lucifer recovered from his shock rapidly and squared off against Michael…it was just the two of them alone now…he toyed with the idea of sending for Baal, but knew that the Enemy of Darkness had to be kept busy so she didn’t put up an appearance here.

Lucifer suddenly grinned at Michael…”I beat you once Michael, in the Warrior Games before the Fall…remember? Well I can beat you again!”

Lucifer launched himself forward with his sword poised straight ahead…he had taken a few paces backward to give himself full momentum…he knew Michael’s weakness…unlike Lucifer who could summon a cloak of darkness, Michael could only be revealed in the light…unless the Spirit shielded him…and Lucifer didn’t think that would happen now…it would be cheating against the Lord of Darkness…two against one as the mortals would say…

Lucifer chuckled to himself as he covered himself with a cloak of darkness moments before he pierced his sword into the essence of Michael’s being…he would disable him for a very long time to come…

Kola heard someone call his name from afar off…it was urgent! But he couldn’t recognize the voice, nor could he see the person…the distance between them was too great…

You have to wake up and kick out!

Kola only wanted to sleep…he was really exhausted, but this person kept telling him to wake up and kick out.

Okay I will when I have rested a little while okay? Kola responded, trying to silence the voice that pestered him so much.

No you need to wake up RIGHT NOW!
The person had started yelling and Kola felt the beginnings of a really bad headache…

Okay okay okay! Wake up and kick out! I’ve heard you! He replied grumpily.

Baal positioned the scalpel steadily; pointing it directly at Kola’s heart…Dr Ekwueme’s hands were very steady and Baal was glad for that.

He raised the scalpel and brought it down straight into Kola’s heart.

Wunmi stood outside in the reception along with the others praying in tongues…she felt uncomfortable because of the premonition she was having…something evil was going on and she couldn’t quite place her finger on it…

Get past the nurses and go to the third room on the right…NOW!

Wunmi turned to the nurses and suddenly began to run…instinctively Maryi ran swiftly to cut off the nurses…she remembered what had happened when they had taken Pastor Adewusi to the hospital and Wunmi had broken through the knot of nurses trying to stop her…she must have received an instruction from the Spirit and Mary intended to help her fulfil it!

A tall nurse stepped in front of Wunmi just as she reached the door but Mary ran into her…

“Oh my God, I’m so sorry!” Mary apologised.

“You are trying to help her to get through abi! I will have to call security to send you people out, this is not allowed!” ranted the nurse.
“Please don’t do that, we are very sorry,” said Pastor Adewusi coming up to join them…but Wunmi was already gone.

Two things happened simultaneously as the scalpel held by Baal in Dr Ekwueme’s body plunged towards Kola’s heart…the door burst open jarring his concentration and swerving his hand slightly…just as Kola woke up and kicked out…the scalpel plunged straight into the space where Kola had been lying a moment ago.

Baal immediately left Dr Ekwueme’s body in great wrath at having been frustrated yet again by the Enemy of Darkness!

He hovered above the scene and watched as Wunmi pushed Dr Ekwueme aside and held on to her husband. Kola was breathing very heavily and still looking disoriented.

Wunmi pulled out the scalpel and turned to stare at Dr Ekwueme who was just coming back to his senses.

“What have I done?” he whispered in horror.

“Thank God you didn’t do anything. You were being manipulated by spiritual forces sir,” said Wunmi, trying to calm him down as the good doctor began to work himself up, pacing around the room.

Baal faded out of the scene…he had better get over to the battle…if he couldn’t do anything else here, then he could at least help bring Michael down!

Wunmi suddenly turned to face him…she could still see him…

“Baal, I bind you now in the name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit, desist from now on in your manoeuvres against my husband and my loved ones. I forbid your presence and interference in our lives, for whatsoever I forbid on earth, is now hereby forbidden in heaven. Thus I confine you to the heavenly places until the time of your judgement.

With a howl…Baal departed from her presence…he should have left sooner…now he was compelled and constrained to return to the Heavenlies…the power of the Spirit constrained him from moving in any other direction…he had been forbidden on earth!

Do watch out for the Finale tomorrow!

Gods of the earth Chapters 41 & 42

Chapter 41

Pastor Adewusi opened the door forcefully and strode in with his wife behind him. His wife gasped in shock as she saw Janut standing over seven feet tall, make his way towards the two couples. Janut turned sharply to see who the intruders were.

There was no fear in Pastor Adewusi as he began advancing on Janut, all the while praying in tongues. His wife seeing his fearlessness became emboldened and hastened to be by his side. Janut snarled at them and raised his hand. In that moment, Mrs Adewusi suddenly found herself floating upwards from the ground as Janut raised his hand.

“In the name of Jesus, I forbid it!” ordered Pastor Adewusi in a loud voice, as he saw what was happening to his wife.

Nothing happened, instead; she continued to rise higher and higher. Pastor Adewusi frowned…he was puzzled at the blatant defiance of the fallen angel at the mention of the name that is above all names.

“We have to resist them, they will put up a struggle but we must resist,” said Mary suddenly.

Pastor Adewusi finally understood. He had thought that they would obey him immediately he gave a command in the name of Jesus, but it wasn’t so…their resistance was in hopes that the believer would get discouraged and desist…but if not, they would have no choice but to obey the commands spoken on behalf of the Nazarene; for he had given them his own heavenly authority.

Pastor Adewusi laid his hands on his wife and began pulling her back to the ground, all the while issuing commands in the name of Jesus. With a loud snarl of rage, Janut gave up his grip on Mrs Adewusi and she dropped unhurt into her husband’s arms.

Then Janut suddenly vanished…he had given up his physical form and reverted back to his original form!
Kola and Muyiwa looked around them nervously, wondering where the next attack would come from…suddenly a chair launched itself with force against Kola and he was knocked unconscious…blood spurted out of a deep gash on the side of his head.

In that moment, Wunmi’s eyes were opened and she saw both Janut and Baal behind them. They seemed to be manipulating the things in the room like puppets on a string. Chairs and bottles began flying around the room.

Muyiwa ducked under a couple of flying bottles as he rushed to Kola, pulling out a clean handkerchief from his pocket and attempting to stem the flow of blood.

The diversion the chair caused was enough for Baal to strike out with his sword against Mary, but Wunmi came in between them and the sword stopped a few inches from her body…for some strange reason it could go no further…then he remembered…she was the one who had not loved her life unto death…therefore death other than that which Majesty himself had ordained for her, could have no effect on her.

Wunmi laughed terribly and lifted her voice in song…

Arise oh Lord, let your enemies be scattered!

She sang the song repeatedly as she went into a peculiar dance…round and round Baal she went, and as she danced around him…chains unseen to the physical eye began to twist around him; pinning his arms to his sides.

Mary saw what Wunmi was doing, but could not see Baal or the chains that bound him firmly. She went over to help Muyiwa to carry Kola away into the bedroom, with Mrs Adewusi’s help.

Pastor Adewusi joined in the song Wunmi was singing, but stopped short…speechless… when his eyes opened and he saw Baal tied up in chains, and Janut drawing his sword…suddenly his arm felt very heavy…he felt as though he was holding something in between his fingers.

He felt compelled to lift his left arm upwards and not a moment too soon…Janut brought down his sword and Pastor Adewusi’s right arm felt a terrible impact…

It is the Shield of Faith…said the Spirit quietly. Then the pastor’s eyes were opened to see the Shield…it was like nothing he had ever seen before!

It seemed to have a life of its own…it had moved his arm upwards to deflect the blow meant for himself!

If you have the Shield…surely you must have the Sword; whispered the Spirit.

Pastor Adewusi looked at his right hand but saw nothing…nevertheless he knew it was there…he walked by faith not by sight…when the Sword of the Spirit was needed, it would make itself known…

Baal struggled against the chains but to no avail…

Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;
To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;
To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;
To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.

Wunmi spoke the words of Psalm 149 with authority as she turned her attention fully to Janut.

All hail the power of Jesus Name, let angels prostrate fall, let angels prostrate fall!
Wunmi didn’t know the words of the hymn…only the chorus…yet the entire hymn came unbidden to her mind as she began to sing.

Her voice struck a keynote of vibrant victory and she watched with a shout of joy as Janut began writhing in pain…in that instant, Baal vanished with a howl.

We will be back; snarled Janut, as he too vanished.

Pastor Adewusi looked around him breathlessly, but they had left. Wunmi ran towards the bedroom to attend to her husband.

“He will need medical attention,” said Pastor Adewusi, following swiftly.

“We may have to treat him here. There is complete chaos out there. Two huge giants are laying waste to the city,” said Mrs Adewusi, taking the bandages Mary had brought.

“Don’t worry, I used to be a major domo in the Red Cross, so I can handle this up to a point,” she continued, trying to reassure Wunmi as she cradled her husband’s head in her lap…Kola was stirring…groaning in pain as Mrs Adewusi did what she could.

“Giants laying waste to the city?” murmured Mary, kneeling beside Mrs Adewusi to assist her.

“They are literally tearing the city apart and killing scores of people. It was by divine intervention that we got here in the first place,” said Pastor Adewusi.

“The Spirit began directing my husband into roads we didn’t even know existed. That was how we skirted around the giants and only saw them from afar just before we arrived here,” finished Mrs Adewusi.
Kola groaned again and opened his eyes to find himself staring into the eyes of his concerned wife. She immediately planted a kiss on his forehead.

“They’ve gone for now, but they will certainly be back,” said Wunmi in answer to his questioning gaze.

“That’s a very bad cut you have there, it will need stitching. Perhaps there is a hospital around here somewhere?” asked Mrs Adewusi.

“Yes there is on the third street from here, a private hospital,” answered Wunmi.

“Then we should take him there now,” said Pastor Adewusi, rising to his feet.

“Let me help you up, Kola,” said Muyiwa, tugging at Kola gently until he was able to wrap his arms around the shoulders of both men.

Together they took him out into the car and they all drove off to the hospital.

The moment Baal was out of the presence of the Enemy of Darkness, his chains fell off.

“What do we do now?” asked Janut.

“We certainly cannot return to the Lord of Darkness without a victory,” said Baal, rubbing his chafing arms.

“Well that was quite a knock on the head he received from the chair I threw at him…he will probably need medical attention,” said Janut.

“So you’re suggesting we go and continue this at the hospital?” asked Baal, turning it over in his mind…it was a good idea.

“Yes, except that we won’t give them an open confrontation this time. The Spirit will fight for them as he did now. I suggest that we use the hospital staff against them,” finished Janut.

“I like it!” said Baal, endeavouring to grin.

Chapter 42

Michael and a team of warrior angels had managed to cordon off the lumbering giants and were now leading them away from the densely populated city. Michael scanned the area for the fallen arch angels but there was still no sign of any of them…no sign of Lucifer either.

He looked at the battle that raged around him; for both angels and fallen angels had at last come to grips…he knew that the battle that raged around him was merely the diversion…Lucifer intended to end the lives of the Enemy of Darkness and her fellow believers.

He soared into the heavenlies in search of the fallen arch angels, mindful of the Spirit’s instructions not to interfere with whatever battles the believers were fighting. Down below, whirlwinds were springing up everywhere and a hurricane was brewing…the sons of men looked pitiful as they ran blindly in search of safety…Michael felt compassion for them…but there was not much he could do to help them.

They were caught up in whirlwinds and thrown around like little rag dolls, wondering what had happened to the world that they knew so well just a few moments ago.

Suddenly Belial emerged from the blackness of the sky that was threatening a violent storm…the elements had been destabilized by the unseen spiritual battle going on down below.
Straight as a dart, Belial streaked towards Michael, counting on the element of surprise. Michael perceived him and swerved away, but not in time to avoid a collision. He was knocked away for a long distance before he regained control of himself.

Belial pursued him relentlessly as he sent a silent signal for back up to Baal.

You must fight this battle alone and win! Let it be known for all Eternity that the Warlord of Heaven is no match for fallen arch angels…even in their numbers…draw your strength from Me!

My Lord, it shall be as you have commanded!

Michael readied himself for Belial’s attack, even as he saw from the corner of his eyes, the approach of Baal and Janut from two opposite directions!

As steel rang against steel, the heavens exploded in bright white lightning accompanied by a thunderous roar…the earth trembled and the very ground split open in several areas in a minor earthquake.

Janut and Baal arrived in time to unseat Michael from his position high above Belial…three swords rang out against his one…yet Michael gave no quarter…he knew he had to rely utterly on the strength of the Spirit in this battle…but he was too busy fighting on three fronts to concentrate on anything else…he vaguely remembered the holy and righteous anger that had consumed him once when he had battled Lucifer (read THE VIGIL!).

But he didn’t have that holy anger now…he avoided a thrust from Baal’s sword only to be pierced by Janut’s sword…Belial laughed horribly.

“Think you to defeat three arch angels?” he taunted as he baited Michael with his sword.
They had begun to play a game with him as he weakened…he was in the centre of them all and they struck him at will…slowly they tightened the circle they had formed around him…it was only a matter of time before the fatal blow would be struck…the blow that would send Michael out of earth’s realm…wounded and disabled for a long time…then they could easily rout his angels, and for once…all Eternity would see that the Majesty didn’t always win!

If ever Michael needed the power of the Spirit…it was now! He suddenly remembered how Wunmi the Enemy of Darkness had relied a lot on worship to lean on the Spirit…

Then Michael lifted his voice in song and glorious was the sound of it as he sang of the matchless power of the Most High. He took Psalm 149 and turned it into a song even as the trio of arch angels closed in on him…then it was, that a mighty surge of power took over his very being and caused him to grow in stature, so that now he towered over his enemies…

Turning full circle, Michael swept his blade around him, knocking them all far into the distance…it would give him time to prepare for their final onslaught…the power of the Spirit had girded him with strength!

He risked a glance at the raging battle below him and saw that once again, his Host was outnumbered…it was Majesty’s way of making it known to all that cared to know…it is not by power nor by might…but by my Spirit!

Michael held up his sword in readiness as all three arch angels came streaking towards him. As they rushed in, Michael suddenly slid beneath them and thrust upwards.

His blow pierced deep into Janut’s torso from the bottom to the top. With a howl of rage and pain, Janut slowly faded out of earth’s realm…now he would be confined to the Heavenlies, never to return here again till Judgement day had sentenced him forever into Lake of Fire.

Belial and Baal suddenly found themselves clashing swords together…for the arch angel they had targeted had suddenly slipped beneath them in a move they had not anticipated.

Then Belial raised his head and gave a loud shout… “To me!”

It was a call for reinforcements…he was determined to finish off Michael one way or another.

Several fallen angels flocked to heed his call and soon Michael was swamped beneath their numbers. His Host saw it and rallied to help him.

Lucifer smiled as he saw that the odds were now completely in his favour…it was time for him to make his appearance…

Baal received the Lord of Darkness’ silent signal to leave the melee and go to the followers of the Nazarene, to destroy as many of them as he could. He stole away swiftly, covered by Belial and several others.

He noted with satisfaction that none of the medical staff had the bright light of the Spirit around them that indicated that they were genuine followers of the Nazarene…they were all obviously nominal Christians…that meant he could manipulate them at will.

He saw the wounded mortal being taken into a room to be stitched, and followed them inside. His wife and friends were not allowed to enter with him.

Baal began to gently stir the tender and delicate strands of thought that constantly swirled around in the mind of the doctor.

Doctor Ekwueme shook his head to clear his befuddled brain as he readied himself to stitch his patient. He felt very exhausted even though he couldn’t remember why…somehow he couldn’t seem to concentrate.

He was the only doctor on duty so he had to carry on…the gash was quite deep or he would have entrusted the stitching to one of his more capable nurses.

As he readied the anaesthetic, a thought suddenly occurred to him…he didn’t have to do a terribly neat job…it would take too much time and he was really exhausted…no one would know a thing…

He waited for the anaesthesia to take effect and then took up the needle. The nurse assisted him with the patient.

Suddenly the nurse complained of a runny tummy and had to go…Doctor Ekwueme felt his mind go blank…he felt he was falling into blackness…the last thing he remembered was the pretty nurse he had slept with the previous night right there in his office before going home to his beautiful but pregnant wife.

Baal took over the doctor’s hands as he blew on his mind softly and sent him to sleep…the wounded follower of the Nazarene was now completely at his mercy…Baal picked up a scalpel…it was sharp…probably better than a knife…
